Ferdinand Götz
Austrian artist, self-taught
* 12.06.1955 in Strobl
Ferdinand Götz is an autodidact artist . He works with various forms of visual art such as painting, graphics, sculpture, photography and also seeks a connection to film and literature. In his work he uses "metaphors of strong expressiveness, which sometimes show an affinity with the fantastic. With reduced means he depicts people who have a poorly defined relationship with one another. " [1] In his project constructing a house, which ran for over 15 years, he developed counter-models to an absurd world of housing. [2] Götz is a member of the artist group Sinnenbrand alongside Peter Assmann , Richard Wall and Paul Jaeg . [3][4]
In 2007, he was the artistic director of the multimedia project "The Island of the Birdmen - St. Kilda " for the performance venue Hallstatt , an opera by Lew Bogdan and Ian Finlay Macleod (text) and David Paul Graham and Jean-Paul Dessy (composition), which was performed simultaneously in five European countries. [5][6]
The artist’s works are in public collections, such as the Federal Art Library [7] and the Art Collection of the Province of Upper Austria [ 8] .
Since spring 2013, Götz has been curator of the Deutschvilla art house in Strobl on Lake Wolfgang . [9]
He lives in Bad Ischl .
